Ubuntu Linux vai chegar aos telemóveis

Em colaboração com a Intel, investigadores da comunidade open source Linux estão a desenvolver uma versão do sistema operativo Ubuntu destinada a telemóveis com ligação à Internet.

O projecto chama-se Ubuntu Mobile and Embedded e deverá ter uma primeira versão disponibilizada já em Outubro.

Dentro dos sistemas operativos desenvolvidos em open source, o Ubuntu é um dos mais populares, como ficou recentemente exemplificado quando a Dell revelou que pretende começar a disponibilizar o Ubuntu de origem dentro dos seus computadores.

Ubuntu Member Fever :)

Durante meu pouco tempo participando da comunidade Ubuntu presenciei alguns fatos que me levaram a pensar melhor sobre quem realmente ajuda a comunidade. E hoje me deparo com um relato de mais um membro que aparentemente pensa igual a mim.

“While I feel that Ubuntu is the best Linux distribution available, I must state that being “a member” means very little, in my opinion. So you get to use a “ubuntu/member” cloak, so what? Let’s not lose sight of the fact that the most important people in the Ubuntu community are people like me; the ones who:

* use Ubuntu and actively spread the word
* those who sit in the irc channels answering questions
* this who sit in the ubuntuforums answering questions
* those who add to and edit the wiki and other documentatio

I have helped almost 200 people and businesses in my area switch from Windows to Ubuntu Linux and I hold classes in my area.

Some of “the members” act as though they are better than the rest of us, which sheds a bad light on the entire community. This “Ubuntu member” status feels too much like a “ranking” system and some members use it as such

Let us not lose sight of the fact that the “real Ubuntu members” are those who actually help others regardless of their alleged “member” status.”

É exatamente assim que me sinto. Não que o título de “Membro” seja algo ruim mas, na minha opinião, não deve ser o objetivo principal.

Ainda hoje tento ajudar a todos da mesma forma, ou até melhor, que fui auxiliado durante o inicio da minha escalada no mundo Linux (Ubuntu).

Finalmente consegui tempo para escrever alguma coisa…. estou tentando me preparar para obter a certificação da RedHat, isso explica a minha ausência prolongada
